About LMS

Longhope Motor Services was established by myself in February of 2006, the aim was to deliver a friendly reliable service to the local community, however, this soon spread to the surrounding and I have stayed very busy due to the support of my growing customer base.

In mid 2006, my father came to join me in the business, along with my sister, leaving me with more time in the workshop. My, at the time, semi-retired father came to do the invoicing and parts ordering whilst my sister came to take care of my fast growing accounts. By the end of 2006 Longhope Motor Services had grown faster than my expectations and had become a family run business with me at the helm.

We were undertaking all repair and servicing on all makes and models of cars, 4x4 and light commercial and even 7.5tone lorries. I would never turn any thing away, a challenge was always good and it is still the same now - although I no longer work on lorries.

In late 2008, I took on an apprentice to train up and help me with the ever growing work load, we started doing light restoration work and building our own cars for shows, this soon turned in to full restoration work and modifications on various cars and 4x4s. At this point, my passion for cars changed from show and shine concourse vehicles to 4x4s. I had always had an interest in Land Rovers and had my first when I was 17. This is the point where I decided to start doing a little more with them but I also promised myself that not to turn my back on the key part of the business, which is general repairs and maintenance.

During 2012, I decided to give the business an identity and it became known as LMS (Longhope Motor Services) it was also now a good time to give a name to the other half of the business LMS (Longhope Motor Services specialist in Land Rover restoration and off-road preparation) and start the building of our shop and Land Rover parts counter as we were now official distributors for Bearmach and QT Services. It was at this point we started doing our trade stands at Land Rover shows.

As me and my fiancée Natasha were now expecting our first child and as my father really wanted to retire, we decided it was a good time for Tash to join me at LMS, where together we pushed the company to become a known name on the Land Rover scene.

Tash is now a director alongside myself and we now have another apprentice working for us plus a full time mechanic. My eldest son is now  an apprentice and learning the trade also. We have sponsored various events for the off-road club we trial with and even run our very own event known as the LMS family fun day, all in aid of raising money for local charities, which we intend to make a yearly event.

The future of LMS see us doing much more restoration work on Land Rovers and many more general repairs and services on every make and model and of course not to mention our ever growing collection of Landrovers, which will no doubt expand.
